Support
Quality Wake County Schools
May
10, 2006
Wake
Up Wake County, a non profit organization concerned
about how Wake County is paying for and managing growth,
asks all interested citizens to arrive at the Wake
County Board of Commissioners' meeting that
will be held at 2PM on Monday,
May 15th, 2006. The purpose is to
send a message to our county commissioners that we
want them to STOP THE RACE TO THE
BOTTOM when it comes to providing adequate
funding for our public school system. Having the least
expensive school bond and making other changes to
simply save money does not achieve the goal that should
be number one with all Wake County citizens which
is to have the best public school system possible.
Those
who wish to speak need to sign up by 2pm
at the Wake County Courthouse on Fayetteville Street
as well as those who are not able to sign up in time
or who don't wish to speak to the commissioners are
still urged to show support for this important cause
by rallying after the meeting by carrying kiddie shovels
and pails and homemade signs suggesting that we need
to stop digging the hole deeper
- that our school system has needs that will not be
adequately addressed by voting for a bond that won't
get the job done.
We
encourage everyone to show up at 2pm if you can to
show your support for QUALITY SCHOOLS
not just the cheapest plan that is expected to garner
the greatest public support. We believe our county
commissioners are misjudging the willingness of the
community to support quality schools. Leadership is
required and in the absence of leadership only mediocrity
will result. Wake Up Wake County
is confident that the citizens of Wake County want
and deserve more than just mediocrity when it comes
it our public school system.
