According to a July 18 Public Policy Poll, 84% of North Carolinians support having a referendum on a local option for a transfer tax as a way to help pay for the costs of growth. Also, more than 80% support impact fees on new development. Click here to read more (PDF)

WakeUP Wake County is a non-partisan, citizens’ group supporting well-planned, sustainable growth in Wake County, North Carolina. Wake County is growing rapidly, with a population due to double in 20 years and 27 acres of land developed each day. Promote better management of growth

When we say "growth management," we don't mean stopping growth - just as business management is not about stopping business. Growth management means just that: handling the effects and costs of growth; deciding how it is all going to be paid for; and planning ahead so we don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
