WakeUP Wake County Holding Fundraiser at New AIA Building

 

On Thursday June 21, 2012 5:30-7:30 WakeUP Wake County will be holding it's first formal fundraiser at the AIA North Carolina Center for Architecture and Design on Peace St.  This is an exciting time in WakeUP's history, and we would love to have you there to celebrate with us.  Frank Harmon, the building's architect, will be giving tours of the LEED Platinum building throughout the night while WakeUP will be supplying guests with local food and beverages.  There will also be a raffle with many fun and exciting prizesTickets for this event will be $35 each with one raffle ticket included; more raffle tickets will be available for purchase on site.

WakeUP After 5

On May 16 WakeUP Wake County and Downtown Living Advocates will be hosting the annual WakeUP After 5 social at the Oxford in downtown Raleigh.  We will be discussing the proposed Wake County Transit Plan and how it will affect those that live, work, and play in downtown Raleigh.  Come to the Oxford at 5:30 on April 16 to have a couple drinks and meet other DLA and WakeUP members.

This symposium will bring together theologians and natural resource experts to discuss ecological challenges to Falls Lake and theological perspectives on ecosystems within the lake, with a goal of engaging church pastors and leaders in developing avenues to protect Wake County’s drinking water supply and ecosystem health & services.

The school-to-prison pipeline (STPP) is one of the greatest challenges facing school districts across the nation--and locally. However, there are well-documented programs that mitigate student “pushout” without jeopardizing school safety that could easily be adopted in North Carolina.  So what can we do to address this issue?

NC Bike Summit 2012 Call for Proposals

NC Bike Summit fosters relationships between various groups in the state that are interested in bicycling as a valid form of transportation.  This event is a great opportunity to learn about innovative programs that encourage cycling and network with other individuals invested in the cause.  The NC Bike Summit will be October 12-13, 2012. Learn more about the summit here.

Currently the NC Bike Summit staff is putting together their program for the event. If you would be interested in presenting at the summit respond to the call for proposals by April 13, 2012.  Read the Call for Proposals here.
