High Speed Rail - Task Force recommends NC-3 (Norfolk Southern)

OnTuesday, August 3, 2010, Raleigh City Council received recommendationsfrom the Passenger Rail Task Force that identified the NC-3 route(Norfolk Southern) as the best path for a future high speed rail line.

What is the Passenger Rail Task Force?
In the Spring of 2010 the Raleigh City Council appointed an 11 member Passenger Rail Task Forceto advise the Council on several specific issues related to the futureprovision of passenger rail service--local, regional andlong-distance--to the City of Raleigh. Aside from focusing on highspeed rail, the Task Force is also responsible for developingrecommendations on Union Station, a proposed transit hub, and on othertransit improvement projects.
