Dear Triangle Members of the NC General Assembly,
I am a Triangle resident who is concerned by devastating budget cuts that threaten our air and water quality, public transit, and education system. I write today to ask you to please OPPOSE THE PROPOSED HOUSE BUDGET, which includes a number of measures that willl negatively impact our region's quality of life:
Water and air quality
Dramatic budget cuts to NCDENR could result in weakened watershed protection and air quality, which could endanger your drinking water supply.
Public transit
Public transit projects are unfairly targeted under the proposed house budget! Plus, high-speed rail and any other multi-modal transit federal funding will be subjected to another unecessary legislative review process.
Education
NC school funding accounts for a majority of the proposed budget and will experience the deepest cuts - 10.5%, which, if approved, will translate to over 15,000 education layoffs.
I encourage you to please oppose these provisions within the proposed NC House Budget, which unfairly target air and water quality, public transit, and our education system.
Budget writers in the NC House of Representatives have unleashed a state budget proposal that threatens sustainable communities across North Carolina.
We need YOUR VOICE to speak out against draconian cuts to education, water and air protection, and public transit included in the proposed NC House Budget. The House will vote next week...

More information about the NC House of Representatives state budget proposal:
Water and air quality threatened!

Transit under attack!
Public transit projects are unfairly targeted under the proposed house budget! Plus, high-speed rail and any other multi-modal transit federal funding will be subjected to another unecessary legislative review process - uncannily similar to H422, "No High-speed Rail Money from Federal Gov't."
Education funding in limbo!
NC school funding accounts for a majority of the proposed budget and will experience the deepest cuts - 10.5%, which, if approved, will translate to over 15,000 education layoffs.
